— James "Jim" Charles Hammett, age 50, of Claremore joined a host of family and friends in the presence of his Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 11, 2009. A Celebration of Life service is been planned at Destiny Life Church (formerly Church at Claremore) on Friday May 15, 2009 at 10 am.
Jim was born January 25, 1959 at Claremore Health Center to James Bevis Hammett and LaNelle Elam Hammett. Jim graduated from Claremore High School in 1977 and followed in his mother's footsteps when he and his brother Mark took over the Hammett House Restaurant in 1979. In September the same year, Jim married Cindy Fredericks and together they had four children. He owned and managed several restaurants in the Claremore and Tulsa area before pursuing career opportunities outside of Oklahoma. Jim married Robbi Darnell in November 1996 in Eureka Springs. In December of 2004 he and Robbi moved back home to Claremore to be near family.
Jim is survived by his children, Jimmy Hammett of Broken Arrow, Andy Hammett and his wife Kerry of Alexandria, Virginia, Rachel Hockey, her husband Ben, and daughter Adelaide of Watchung, New Jersey, and Benjamin Hammett of Claremore. His children by marriage include Chris Darnell his wife Lela and their four children, Kindra Darnell, and Ben Darnell and his son, all of Claremore. He is also survived by his siblings Susan Krackov of Bernardsville, N.J., Jai Archer of Springdale, Ark., Mary Hammett Hamilton of Jackson, Miss., and Mark Hammett and his wife Amy of Claremore.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Roberta "Robbi" Hammett; his parents, James B. Hammett and LaNelle Hammett Yates; his brothers-in-law Tuck Archer and Larry Krackov, and nephew Trevor Hamilton.
