Eleanor "Tardy" Carr Willing, age 97, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at her home. "Tardy" was a lifelong resident of Southport, N.C. where she was born on December 28, 1913, the daughter of the late Thomas Beals and Susan Dosher Carr. She was a lifetime member of Saint Philips Episcopal Church of Southport. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred L. Willing, a retired Cape Fear river pilot. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Thomas B. Carr, James E. Carr, and her sisters, Eula Carr Davis, Annie G. Carr Messick and Edna Carr Fulcher.

She is survived by her nieces, Margaret "Peggy" Carr Hughes of Statesville, Mary Sue Fulcher Oots of Charlotte, nephew, Jerry Fulcher of Hartsville, S.C. and John Carr Davis of Bolivia, N.C. Also surviving are great nieces and nephews including Penny Horkan of Raleigh, Jimmy Moore and wife May of Oak Island, Paul Moore and wife Fran of Raleigh, and many loving great great nieces and nephews. Her sister in law, Elsie Willing Jorgenson also survives her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Brege McCoy and her staff for her devotion and loving care of "Tardy" and the thoughtfulness and comfort she has extended to the family.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 11:00a.m. at St. Philips Episcopal Church with the Reverend Barry Kubler officiating. Burial will follow in the Northwood cemetery.

"Tardy's" great great nephews will serve as pallbearers.
