He played with the Boston Red Sox (1951-59), Milwaukee Braves (1961), and Philadelphia Phillies (1962). He was an All Star in 1953. He had a career batting average of .262 with 66 home runs and 421 runs batted in. He was an All-American college basketball player at the University of Washington. He was also a professional bowler and professional golfer.
