         •• U.S. NAVY VETERAN - WWI ••

Judge Jackman, son of L.N. and Bettie Chapman Jackman; raised in Barren County and attended Chestnut Grove school. He had wanderlust and left home at a very early age. His whereabouts for decades were unknown. He ventured to many states including New Jersey, California, Michigan, Iowa, that we know of, and untold shores while in the U.S. Navy. He married Grace Higdon, b.New Jersey. They had daughters, Eileen, Sally and Nancy. Grace's death unknown. No divorce decree, no 1940 census found. Judge's 2nd wife, Lillian Lucille "Lucy" Parmer, b.Mich (1922-93), m.1 Oct 1940 in Otsego, Vanderbilt, Mich; divorced 25 Jan 1946 in Wayne, Mich. When he returned to Ky in his 70's, some of his life's journey was shared w/his much loved sister, Mallie. As they aged, appearance-wise, she, Judge and their brother, Tom, could have passed for triplets.

We met Uncle Judge only once after his 'Prodigal Son' homecoming, and shortly before his death. What a sweetheart! Gentle, generous smiles and hearty laughter seemed natural for him. At the time of his death, he was living in Somerset, Pulaski County, Ky, and was returned to his home burial grounds in Barren County. He had come full circle.
