Maurice "Maury" Bryant of Alexandria, Missouri, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at his home.

He was born February 23, 1925 in Alexandria, Missouri, the son of James Oscar and Anna Florence Koeber Bryant. He married Thelma M. Reed on January 1, 1945 in Alexandra, Missouri, at the Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong resident of Alexandria, Missouri. He was self-employed as a farmer and worked for the railroad for a few years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk; St. Francisville Lodge #588, A.F.& A.M.; and the Keokuk B. P.O. Elks Lodge #105. He was the owner/operator of the Alexandria Gun Club. He was an avid trap shooter and enjoyed bowling, golf, and hunting.

He is survived by his wife Thelma M. Bryant of Alexandria, Missouri; 2 daughters: Linda Schuette of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jennie Herr and her husband, James, of Keokuk, Iowa; 4 grandsons: Bryan Schuette and his wife, Stephanie, of Las Vegas, Nevada; James Schuette of Las Vegas, Nevada; R.J. and John Herr of Keokuk, Iowa; 1 great granddaughter; Samantha Jo Schuette of Las Vegas, Nevada; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Avice Arnold and Aileen Griffith; and a brother, William Bryant.

Funeral services were Thursday, October 19, 2006 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Frazee Cemetery near Wayland, Missouri.

Memorial may be made to the Hoerner Y, Shriners' Crippled Children Hospitals, or American Cancer Society.
