Charles Henry Burke was the son of the late John Washington Burke and Margaret CrowsonDr. Charles Henry W Burke was the son of John Washington Burke and Margaret Crowson Burke. He enlisted in Company B, North Carolina 37th Infantry Regiment on 15 Aug 1862 and was promoted to Full Sergeant on 1 Oct 1862.
He was married to Melvina Jones on 12 Mar 1857 and they were the parents of 8 sons and 3 daughters.
