"FUNERAL OF MRS. SPARKS TOMORROW
The funeral services of Mrs. Sarah Sparks, who died Sunday night will be held at the old home at Mossy Rock, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in the mossy Rock cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Sparks was born in Schuyler County, Illinois, Illinois, May 13, 1843. She moved with her parents to Kansas, where she met and was married to A. Sparks in 1859.

To this union was born eleven daughters, nine of whom are living. Mrs. Sparks has been a Christian for 33 years and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the First Christian church of this city and was well known.

Mrs. Sparks will be sadly missed by relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and nine daughters, who are: Mrs. Josephine Stone of Logan, New Mexico, Mrs. Anna McGhie of Everett, Mrs. Lela Scammon of Pineville, Oregon, Mrs. Emma Wilson, Mrs. May Rich and Mrs. Loda Miller all of Mossy Rock, Mrs. Effie Grimes of Chehalis, Mrs. Grace Ray of Centralia and Mrs. Verda McCandless of Raymond. She is also survived by thirty-seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Three of her grandchildren reside near her; they being Mrs. Grace Cooper, Mrs. Edna Brown and Mrs. Cecil Sparks."

"Mrs. Sarah Sparks died Sunday night east of Chehalis at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.E. Grimes. The funeral was held at the old home at Mossyrock, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was in Mossyrock cemetery.

Note: Sarah's obit indicates that she was born in 1843, however, the date on the plaque of her tombstone shows it as 1842. Adding to the mystery, the date of her birth is shown as May 13, 1848 on the large monument marking her grave.
