Dixie J. Coss, 74, of Battle Creek passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at The Oaks at Northpointe Woods in Battle Creek. She was born October 28, 1934 in Sacramento, CA the daughter of Lester Earl and Pansy Edna (Rhoads) Garnett. She had served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman. Dixie worked for Kellogg's as a computer specialist for 18 years. She married Phillip W. Coss on January 17, 1959 in Oahu, Hawaii and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2000. Dixie loved to sew, knit, read and spending time in her garden. She also liked to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked to watch pro Wrestling on TV. Dixie loved her many dogs. She enjoyed going to her children's and grandchildren's school functions. She is survived by children, Tammie (Rick) Force of Dowling, Tina Coss of Battle Creek, Lori A. (deceased), Vic Coss of Battle Creek, Eric (Chris-Bob) Coss (deceased), Kim (Mike Odette) Bates of Battle Creek; brothers and sisters, Royce (Tomi) Garnett, Jerrie (Bob) Rhodes both of California, Richard (Rhona) Garnett, Claudia "Punk" (Noreen) Garnett both of Utah; grandchildren, Brian, Amanda, Ricky, Heather, Jon, Eric, Victor, Tony, Thomas, Kirstien, Randi, Alex, Candace, Mac, Amberly; and 9 great;grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m. at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Rev. Carolyn Robinson-Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the family.
