Chas. Cahoon Killed In Auto Accident (May 1951)
Charles Manley Cahoon, 58, Yale, was killed Friday night,when a car in which he was riding driven by his son, Robert Cahoon, 27, collided on M-19 just north of the Sanilac County line with a car driven by Rhea T. Kahnt, 25 of Brown City. State Police troopers Ralph Baney and Joseph Lyne said the two cars collided head on near the center-line and hurtled into a ditch.


Robert Cahoon is in Port Huron hospital With face, right hand and back injuries. His condition is said
to be fair. Also injured were Kahnt, leg abrasions and two passenger, Clare Rahnt, 23, leg lacerations and Aubrey Clark, 26 face and hand cuts.

Mr. Cahoon was born Sept. 10,1892 in Canada. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Agnes Cahoon; six sons, Clifford Cahoon, Port Huron; Reaford Cahoon, Seattle, Wash. and Robert, Clinton, Raymond and Gerald Cahoon, all of Yale; three daughters, Mrs. Merieda (Albert) Van Brande, Yale; Mrs. Nola (Leon) Van Brande, Avoca and Mrs. Marjorie (Clifton) Schuyler, Goodells; a sister, Mrs. Mary Palmateer, Kenmore, N. Y.and several grandchildren.


Funeral services were held at 2.30 Tuesday afternoon in the Bankert Funreal Home. Rev O.P. Eastman, pastor of the United Missionary Church officiated Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
