With great sorrow we announce the passing of LILLIAN ANN HAJOVSKY DWORAK, 86, on Friday, the 8th of May 2009. Lillian was born the 30th of October 1922, in Caldwell, Texas, the first-born child of Hattie and Victor Hajovsky. She would later move to the "big city" and graduate from Reagan High School in the Houston Heights. One of Lil's proudest accomplishments was earning her nursing degree during World War II, graduating from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1944. On the 1st of October of that same year, Lil would marry the love of her life, Clarence "Corky" Dworak, a dashing Coast Guard Band Leader stationed in Galveston. Together, they would have two daughters, Karon and Vicki, and Lil chose to stay at home to raise her children, although she would forge lifelong friendships with those she worked with in the nursing field. Lil was a natural hostess who enjoyed nothing more than times at her home with family and friends. She also took great joy in her other interests, such as playing piano and ukulele, bird watching, fishing, and cooking. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Corky, brothers Victor and Harold Hajovsky, sister Margaret LaVal, daughter Karon Dworak Risher, and son-in-law Michael Dene Hensley. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Dworak Hensley, brother George Hajovsky, and son-in-law John Risher. Lil's grandchildren include Caroline DeCamp (Brett), Jennifer Hensley (Ryan), Gina Risher, Wendy Malek (Amin), Kristen Hensley, Rebecca Risher, and Brian Hensley. Great-grandchildren include Nicholas, Maia, Liam, and Rohan. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from seven o'clock until nine o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 11th of May at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 12th of May at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link in Houston. Rite of Committal will follow, via escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Special thanks to the compassionate staff of Brighton Gardens of Bellaire and the Gulf Coast Hospice of Houston. In lieu of the usual remembrances, contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77054, or the charity of one's choice.
