Mrs. Amelia Suver Montgomery died Thursday morning, Oct. 9, at the Montgomery homestead,three and one half miles north of Decatur, aged 90 years.She had been in poor health for several years and her death was due to the infirmities of age.
Three sons and four daughters survive,all living in this county, They are Samuel R.,J. F. and P. H. Montgomery, Mrs.Rachel Hays, Mrs. Mary C. Hanks, Mrs.Martha Gulick and Miss Emily Montgomery.Twenty nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
Amelia Suver was born Jan. 5, 1812 in Frederick county, Virginia. Her parents John and Catherine Surver moved to Clark county, Ohio, in the fall of 1830. There she was married on May 26,1836 to William F.Montgomery. The following years they came to Macon county,Illinois and at first settle on what is known as the Mound farm but later moved a half miles west the homestead where Mr. Montgomery died in August 1886.
After the death of her husband Mrs.Montgomery continued to run the farm and made a specialty of fine cattle. She was credited with being one of the best judges of beef cattle in the county.
Mrs. Montgomery was a woman of many admirable traits and in her long life made many friends who will miss a kind friend and a helpful neighbor.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon. the cortege will leave the residence at 2 oclock and the services will be conducted at Boiling Springs church at 3 oclock. The interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Her children: Mrs. Rachel Hays, Patrick Henry Montgomery, Emily Suver Montgomery, Mrs. Mary C. Hanks, Samuel Montgomery, John Francis Montgomery and Mrs. Martha A. Gulick.
