He attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., before being called to active duty. He served in the Navy Seabees in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater in WWII and received an Honorable Discharge on January 10, 1946.
After returning from active duty, he was employed as manager of Reggie's Outboard Service until his retirement on October 3, 1986.
He was an active member of Riverdale United Methodist Church for 47 years. He was a member of Scottish Rite and Sudan Shriners, and a Master Mason of Grantham Lodge 725.
