Julius Krouse, 92, of Elkader, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader following a brief illness.

He was born in rural Littleport on November 6, 1916, the son of Elizabeth Krouse.

Julius was a simple man who enjoyed fishing and always told tales of hunting with his grandfather, "Paw," Henry Krouse. When it came to troubleshooting electrical problems, Julius was a genius. His specialty was working on gas engines. Julius farmed his family farm in rural Littleport for most his life. In his later years, Julius faithfully traveled, every Sunday, from his apartment in Elkader to the "Station," in Elkport to socialize and have a soda. Julius will be remembered by his friends as an honest good person and will be truly missed.

Survivors include several cousins.

Julius was preceded in death by his mother.
