FRANK G. HETTLER, JR.
Frank G Hettler, Jr. 54, of 1101 Foothill Dr. Champaign, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, June 13, 1977, at Carle Foundation Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the Owens Chapel. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Altoona, Pa., with visitation at the Carn Chapel from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Burial will be in the Alto Reste Cemetery, Altoona Pa.
Mr, Hettler was born born July 22, 1922 at Altoona, the son of Frank and Marie Greenawalt Hettler, Sr. He was married to Priscilla Laing, Dec. 24 1943 in Altoona. She died Sept. 13, 1968.
He leaves daughters, Priscilla L. Christian of Richmond Ind.; Pamela L. Lawhorn of Wheaton; Paula L. Hettler at home; sons Frank G. Hettler, III of Orlando, Fla.; Gary A. of Elmhurst; Jeffrey B. at home; and three granddaughters.
He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hettler received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1943 at the University of Pittsburgh with honors in the Sigma'Tau Academic Society. From 1943-51 he was a technologist for the Shell Oil Company at Wood River. Then from 1951-53 he was senior process engineer responsible for designing chemical plants for the Blaw-Knox Company of Pittsburhg.
On June 1, 1953 he joined U.S.I. at Tuscola as senior technologist. He assumed the duties for plant economics in Dec of 1954 and was named assistant chief technologist in June 1955. In 1959 Mr. Hettler was assigned responsibilities of setting up a new department called, Technical And Production Economics. He had been manager of the department for the past 18 years with responsibilities for plant economic production forecasts, plant yields, computer operations and process and cost analyses.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Champaign.
