MRS. JANE MITCHELL, 80 DIED AT DEXTER HOME
The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Mitchell at her home west of Dexter on August 29, was partially due, it is believed, to the shock received over a year ago when her daughter, Mrs Wm. Crowther was brutally attacked with a hatchet by Charles Skipper, drink crazed farm hand, who committed suicide by shooting himself following the attack. Mrs. Crowthers, who was visiting her mother at the time of the attack, died also, a short time ago.
Born in Marselles, O., Mrs. Mitchell had spent the past forty years at Dexter, her husband, Sylvester Mitchell having preceded her in death-about twenty years ago.
She is survived by three sons, Guy Mitchell, of Missouri, and John Mitchell and J. L. Mitchell, residing in Montana; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Walters of Kansas and Mrs. Maggie Wilcox, of Alma, Neb. She is survived by twelve grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the home. Burial followed in Union cemetery at Altamont.
