Walter served as a Staff Sergeant in the 108th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Monroe County, New York & was a member of the New York National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on October 15, 1940, prior to the war, from Rochester, New York. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Walter "Died Of Wounds" received in action in the Philippine Islands during the war.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.
