TROY-- Edward L. Bishop, 83, of Lansingburgh, died Thursday, December 10, 1998, at the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, after a brief illness. Born in Mineville, he was the son of the late Cleveland Bishop and and Farree Hazeltine Bishop and the husband of Rebecca Shagalski Bishop, of Lansingburgh. He was a US Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea, serving from 1941 to 1952. He retired on full disability as a master sergeant in 1952. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Rev. Francis A. Kelly Chapter #38 of Troy, the Veterans of Lansingburgh and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Corp. Paul J. Baker Post of Troy. He was a former member of the Masonic Temple of Troy and Westover, MA and the former St. Mark's Church of Lansingburgh. Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Derry Bishop of West Lake Village, CA and Greenich, CT, and Dexter Bishop of Lansingburgh; a daughter, Dawn Bishop Kelly of Hampton Manor; two step-daughters, Claudia Hansen of Bethlehem and Paula Garrett Ellis of Chicago and SanFrancisco; a step-son, Jonathan Garrett of Rodeo, CA; eight grandchildren; a great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bishop was predeceased by his three sisters, Evelyn Bishop, Beatrice Wood and Marguerite Pistor. Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th St. and 3rd Ave., Lansingburgh, with Rev. Richard H. Welkley, officiating. Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Veterans of Lansingburgh, Inc., 777 First Ave., Troy, NY 12182 would be apperciated.
