The 1905 Kansas State Census shows him residing at home in Center, Atchison County, Kansas with parents, Frank W. Bishop and wife, Mary.

In 1910, he was enumerated on the census at Fort Leavenworth Military Reservation, Leavenworth, Kansas.

In 1920, he and his wife, Evelyn, were enumerated on the Philippine Islands at Camp Eldridge.

In February, 1921, he applied for a passport to visit Japan for sightseeing purposes on his way back to the United States. He was to be accompanied by his wife, Evelyn.

By 1930, they are enumerated on the census in San Antonio, Texas, listing Anna V. Bishop, daughter, age 8 as well as themselves in the household.

Per his death certificate, he was a married white male who was retired from the US Army and lived in San Antonio.

He died in Brooke Army Hospital, now known as Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Son-in-law of Mattie Elliott.

BISHOP-Major Carl A. Bishop of 118 Calumet died Friday in a local hospital. Survivors: Wife, Mrs. Eva Elliott Bishop; daughter, Mrs. Anne Bishop Campbell; brother, Ernest L. Bishop; three grandchildren. Graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Honorary Pallbearers: Col. Ray W. Harris, Col. James H. Barbin, Col. Harry L. Bennett, Col. Seth L. Weld, Col. Joseph Schillo, and Major B.S. Stocker. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. Direction by Porter Loring.
