FLATVILLE – Susan W. Armstrong, age 58, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Friday, May 8, 2009, following a brief illness.
The daughter of John and Joan (Roseberry) Prior, she was born in Springfield on September 18, 1950.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Armstrong; parents, John and Joan Prior; her sister-in-law Jane Kirby; and her beloved dog, Aris.
She is survived by daughter Dawn (Scott) Riley of Littleton, Colo.; sister Nancy (Byron) Lester of Buffalo, N.Y.; brother Denis (Kerry) Prior of Jenison, Mich.; uncle John Roseberry of Carbondale; uncle Earl (Shirley) Prior of Riverton; aunt Wilma (Robert) Clements of Riverton; and aunt Mary Grace Prior of Mechanicsburg.
Employed by Patterson Office Supplies for over 30 years, Susan developed friendships that would last a lifetime. She was a superb joker and a great friend, always up for fun and laughter.
Susan was a member of the Immanual Lutheran Church of Flatville. She was a care giver to her husband through his battle with rheumatoid arthritis and was a nursing home volunteer in her spare time. Her compassion for others will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Freese Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
Memorials may be made to the Immanual Lutheran Church of Flatville and the Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
