Funeral services for Jacob Alan Ray, 23, of Lufkin, will be held, Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church with Reverend R.C. Forrest and Reverend Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Jacob was born July 10, 1985, in Lufkin, Texas, and he died Friday, May 8, 2009, in a Lufkin hospital. Jacob was a 2003 graduate of Huntington High School. He loved being outdoors, visiting with friends, hunting and fishing, and country music. Jacob was a member of Cross Timbers Cowboy Church and had lived in Angelina County all his life. Survivors include his mother, Carroll Dickey of Lufkin; father, Marvin L. Ray, Jr., of Lufkin; brothers, Joseph Ray and Justin Ray, both of Lufkin; grandparents, Lloyd and Alma Gene Havard of Lufkin; uncle and aunt, Jerry and Sabria Holland of Lufkin; aunt, Lillian Stilson of Lufkin; cousins, Alissa Ross and husband Travis of Huntington, Kristen Holland and Jonathan Holland, both of Houston; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marvin L. Ray, Sr., and grandmother, Hilda Bell Ray. Pallbearers will be Mark Harris, Danny Cashmeir, Steve Hudson, Kyle Allen, Cullen Havard and Curtis Kolojaco. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Johnson, Dustin Johnson and Jeremy Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jacob's name may be made to the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church Building Fund, 4977 Highway 69 North, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church.
