Flora Belle Rose was born at Waverly, Iowa, March 31,1867, the daughter of William E. and Hannah L. (Baskins) Rose. At the age of four, Mrs. Babcock moved with her parents to a farm in Clay county where she spent the earlier years of her life.

She married January 1, 1886, to Frank O. Babcock of Spencer. They were the parents of one child, Mrs. E.P. Keough of Des Moines. In 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Babcock moved to Fort Dodge where they lived for several years, and four years ago they moved to Des Moines.

Surviving Mrs. Babcock in addition to her husband and daughter are her aged mother, Mrs. Hanna L. Rose, and a brother W. H. Rose, of Spencer; a cousin, Mrs. S. M. Lehman [Maggie Baskins], and a niece and nephew living in Waterloo.
