Mrs. Lilian Whitney Dixon, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, departed this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Peterson Dixon, her parents; Mr. & Mrs. James Whitney, and three siblings; Mr. James Whitney, Mrs. Bernice Miller, and Mrs. Athalie Smiley. She was a graduate of Mobile County Training School and Alabama State University. Her teaching experience was in the Lee County and Baldwin County School Systems. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she was active in the Rector's Guild. She was also a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, member of the Mobile Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc., Alpha Wives, the Sirens Social Club, and the Carrie A. Salvent Federated Club. She is survived by two loving daughters; Mrs. Patricia Dixon (William) Pillow, Powder Springs, GA, and Mrs. Janet Dixon Bell, Mobile, AL. Her beautiful memory will be cherished by her two sisters; Mrs. Katie Whitney (Dr. Linkwood) Williams, Memphis, TN, Miss Hattye Whitney, Mobile, AL, four nephews; Mr. Galen (Greta) Williams, Memphis, TN, Mr. Mark Williams, Memphis, TN, Mr. Conrad (Virdell) Bouchelion, Mobile, AL, and Mr. Grover (Lisa) Dixon, III, Fayetteville, GA, and a niece; Karen Williams Lee, Detroit, MI, four grandsons; Albert Wilson, IV, Mobile, AL, James Wilson, Atlanta, GA, William C. (Lisa) Pillow, Powder Springs, GA, Michael Pillow, Atlanta, GA, and one granddaughter; Raiquetta Bell, Kissimmee, FL, four great granddaughters; K. Lei Stocton, Columbus, GA, Kyndall Pillow, Power Springs, GA, Korie Pillow, Powder Springs, GA, and Janae Wilson, Mobile, AL, and a host of other devoted nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 605 Donald St., Mobile, AL, family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Patrick H. Dunn, Sr., Celebrant. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson-Allen Mortuary, 600 Chestnut Street, Mobile, AL. (Published by Press-Register on Jan. 28, 2008.)
