Hosea (Hosie) Willard, 84, of West Plains, died Sunday in West Plains Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept 9, 1899 at Rover, the son of the late John M. and Mary King Willard.
He received his education in the schools of Rover and on Aug. 1, 1924 he was married at Detroit, MI to Effie Estaline Huddleston.
Mr. Willard had been of the Church of God faith and had attended the First Church of God for 30 years.
Mr. Willard had worked for Ford Moter Co. in Detroit, MI for 8 years, the Dodge Motor Co. for several years, and retired in 1961 after 16 years with International Shoe Co. in West Plains. He had worked with the West Plains Police Dept. for 16 years as a school crossing guard.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Willard of the home; one son, Bobby of West Plains, MO; three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Hubert (Bud) Willard of West Plains, MO; two sisters, Mable Garrett and Gertie Giffith, both of West Plains, MO; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Arnie Squires, and three brothers, Fred, Bird and Roy Willard.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
