Paternal grandson of Elisha Uzzell/Uzzle III, born in Wayne Co, and later of Franklin Co, NC and his wife Tabitha Boon of Halifax District, Franklin Co. The Uzzell family fled France for religious persecution and immigrated to the English Colonies in Virginia. The NC Uzzell/Uzzle's are descended from 3 brothers (James, Thomas and Elisha) who left Isle of Wight, VA for the Walnut Creek area of Wayne Co, NC in the early 1700s.
He is the maternal grandson of Hutson/Hudson Wester (also found as WESTRAY) and Cely Boon of Franklin Co, NC.
His father was an overseer in Franklin Co, and later Deputy Sheriff in Louisburg. He was past age 50 when he pulled up stakes sometime after 1870 and moved the family south to Johnston County.
Anthony clerked in his brother George's store in Smithfield, and died in 1897, age 45. No records were ever found to indicate he married.
