Cameron Walter Barnard was the 7th of 11 children born to Everett Barnard and his second wife, Annie Purvis Barnard. Everett was first married to Mary Nettles and of that marriage was born 5 children. When he was only 8 years old, Cameron lost his father who died of a stroke while working in a tobacco barn in Pierce County, GA. Annie had to raise 7 children on her own during the Depression. Cameron had to drop out of school after only a few years in order to go to work to help feed the family.

Around 1950 he enlisted in the US Army and served overseas in Germany. On Sept. 26, 1952 he was married to Colleen Sills in Ware County, GA.

Four sons were born to this marriage: Wendell Walter Barnard, Oct. 29, 1953; Gerald Anthony " Jerry" Barnard, Dec. 5, 1955; Steve Allen Barnard, July 14, 1957 and Rodney Cameron Barnard, Oct. 31, 1958.

On Nov. 27, 1992 Cameron died after a long illness of cardiac complications. He is missed by many. He is now resting in peace.
