Charles "Bus" Barker
Age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his home on Friday, May 8, 2009.
Bus was born in Bellefonte, DE and graduated from Brown Vocational School in 1944. He was a naval veteran of WWII in the Pacific Theater and was a one time member of the Brandywine Hundred Fire Co. Bus was a member of IBEW Local 313, VFW Post 2907, Oriental Lodge #27 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Delaware Consistory and Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. His favorite pastime was fishing with his grandsons.
Bus is survived by his wife Jane, of 56 years; 3 children, Becky and her husband Ralph, Charles and his wife Nina, and Harry and his wife Patti; brothers, Robert and his wife Hanna, and Carl; grandsons, Benjamin, Thomas, Timothy, Matthew, Joseph and Nicholas. Bus was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 13, from 10-12noon at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington (Rt 202, South of Silverside Rd) where a graveside service will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery. www. silverbrookcemetery.com.
