Wilbur was from Fort Wayne, Indiana and was racing at the Marion county fairgrounds in Ohio, when he tangled with Sidney, Ohio's Dave Dilbone. Wilbur's car flipped and his safety belts failed. This accident was almost a year to the day before the Templeman & Hemmings accident at the same place.
