TRIBUTE TO NATHAN EVANS
In connection with his report of the death of the late Nathan Evans of this city, Editor C. L. Ficklin of the Maysvllle Herald says:
"Funeral services were held at the Cameron Christian church Sunday afternoon at half past one o'clock. The service was conducted by the resident minister, H. E. Keltner. Uplifting and heroic old songs of real faith were sung, songs like "Rock of Ages," and "Tarry With Me, O My Savior," and "There'll Be No Disappointment in Heaven." The service was a tender one and seemed to partake of the very spirit of the man over whose body and about whose life the service was being held. Burial was in the cemetery just southeast of Cameron.
Nathan Evans was almost a pioneer citizen of DeKalb county. He was a brother-in-law of the late J. W. Holmes of Maysville and he and his wife often came to Maysvllle to visit the Holmes family. The editor of this paper became acquainted with him years ago and treasured his friendship. His was a fine and fragrant spirit. He gave his heart to God at Garden Prairie Christian church. He was a clean man. He had a heart as tender as a rosebud and his Ideals were clean and high. Ardent tributes to him fell from the lips of friends as they gathered to pay the last respect to his memory, and they were numerous and of high quality. As far back as we can remember Nathan Evans was not strong but he always carried, a rich soul, and It was worth your while to know him.
"He leaves to mourn his going his wife of over half a century, now an Invalid herself and besides he leave three sisters. They are Mrs. Jennie Alverson of Sioux Falls, S. D. : Mrs Libby Spafford of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Nettle Bossert of New York. City."
