Laura "Lary" Frances Dolphin Gentry was born April 25, 1864 in Hart County, KY to James Thomas Gentry and Mary Jane Price Gentry. She was married to James Holman Rice Garrison Jun 27, 1880 in Hart County, KY and died August 5, 1892 in West Plains, MO. Although her headstone is engraved 1891, her last child was born in 1892.

"Lary" and "Rice" were the parents of five children: Cora Ethel (1881-1959); Cloid Westerfield (1884-1958); Thomas Jefferson (1886-1949); Benjamin Franklin (1889-1962) and Ralph Dixon (1892-1954).
