Cheryl (Kerby) Carpenter, 46, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Benzonia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 27, 2001. She died at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Services will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McElduff Funeral Home in Benzonia.
Cheryl was born April 14, 1955, the daughter of Edwin and Marie (Lassen) Kerby. She was the Benzie Central homecoming queen in 1971.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Carpenter; and two children, Adam and Kendra. Also surviving are three brothers, Gene (Beth) Kerby, Fred (Dorothy) Kerby and Wayne Kerby; and six sisters, Darlene (Bruce) Grey, Barb (Mike) West, Shirley (Marv) Young, Maria (Jack) Shippey, Debbie (Dennis) Keitzman and Kimberly (Scott) Mead; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Marie (Lassen) Kerby; a brother, Thomas A. Kerby; and a son, Travis Wayne (Kerby) Carpenter.
