Lorraine Lucille Crawford, 88, Chesterton, died Thursday (May 7, 2009) at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus.
She was born on Dec. 6, 1920, in Chesterton to the late Andrew and Lucille (Maysienski) Demorotski. On Nov. 28, 1940, at St. Patrick Church in Chesterton, she married Gerald E. Crawford, who preceded her in death.
Lorraine is survived by one son, Terry Crawford, Chesterton; one daughter, Jean (Claude) Swanson, Chesterton; four grandchildren, Mark (Jamee) Swanson, Westville, Karrie (Eric) James, Chicago, Brad (Michelle) Crawford, Minnesota, and Brian Crawford, Missouri; and three great-grandchildren, Zoe Swanson, Maizy Swanson and Eli Crawford.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Scott Swanson, and three brothers, Norman Demorotski, Richard Demorotski and Leonard Demorotski.
Lorraine was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton, St. Patrick Women's Club and St. Pat's Seniors Group. She was retired from Hospital Microfilming in Chesterton and was a member of Royal Neighbors of America. She loved to cook and crochet. Lorraine was a loving mother and grandmother and was a good neighbor.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton, with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will follow in Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St., Chesterton.
