Raymond E. Irby, 59, a native of Louisville, died last night at Veterans Hospital. He lived at 2325 Garfield.
Mr. Irby, a sign painter and parking lot operator, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American War Dads. His wife is state president of American War Mothers.
Beside his wife, the former Mary Henehan, Mr. Irby is survived by a son, Raymond F. Irby, Falls Church, Va; three daughters, Mrs. William Powell, Mrs. John J. Gensheimer, Jr., and Mrs. Catherine Coogle, and two brothers, John L. and Bruce G. Irby.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at J. B. Ratterman & Sons, 2114 W. Market. Burial will be in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 4 p.m. tomorrow.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War I. He was assigned to the submarine chaser SC-38. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was an artist with Special Services stationed at Pope Air Base, North Carolina.
