John Brightfield, 67, died at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday at Grace hospital after an illness of a few days.

He was born Jan. 3, 1886, at Clinton, Ill., and in 1932 moved to Hutchinson from Springfield, Mo. He operated the Toggery in the Wolcott Building.

Mr. Brightfield was a member of the Grace Episcopal church, Masonic Lodge 140, York Rite Bodies of Hutchinson, Wichita Consistory, Shrine of Springfield, Mo. and the Elks Lodge of Hutchinson.

Survivors are the widow, Marena, and a son, Horatio, both of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Brown, Los Angeles; and one grandchild.
