Two years prior, her husband Matej Kouba had immigrated to the U.S. The Kouba family resided in the Veseli, MN area for five years. In 1887, she was a pioneer settler to Walsh County with the Kouba's filing a homestead claim in Perth Township where they farmed and raised their family.
