He enlisted in the Army on September 11, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

Earl was "Killed In Action" in Germany during the war.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.

He was interred on Dec. 11, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio and later reinterred in Irondequoit, NY on Nov. 28, 1951.
