RUBY LEE MOORE OVERTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Overton, age 90, of Northport, formerly of Fayette, were held Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at 1 pm from the Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church. Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Jerry Montgomery directed. Burial followed in Antioch Cemetary in Belk.
Mrs. Overton died Monday Feb. 6, 2006. She was born April 26, 1915 in Forestburge, Texas to Robert David Moore and Emma Powell Moore. She was known for her love and compassion for her friends and church family. She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, singing hymns, playing the piano and being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Edmond Overton; granddaughter, Rhonda Lowery; and great-granddaughter, Peyton Bowles.
Survivors include her loving children, Frances (Scott) Brown of Echola, Ruth (Wallace) Lowery of Northport, J.D. (Sandra) Overton of Northport and Shirley (Gary) Ayers of Northport; nine grandchildren, Becky (Tommy) Bowles of Shreveport, LA., Travis Brown of Atlanta, GA., Bonnie (Randy) Crowell of Moore's Bridge, Tina Brown of Baton Rouge, LA, Jeff (Candy) Lowery of Northport, Amanda (Dean) Matthews of Atlanta, GA., Donna (Phil) Shanholtzer of Prattville, AL., David (Leslie) Overton of Northport, AL., Jason Ayers of Northport and Tammy Watson Brown; and seven great-grandchildren, Laken Bowles, Paige and Meagan Crowell, Kylie Lowery, Matthew Shanholtzer, and Nicholas and Heather Overton.
Honorary pallbearers were the Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church family and residents of the Belk Community.
Active pallbearers were, Travis Brown, Jeff Lowery, David Overton, Jason Ayers, Tommy Bowles, Dean Matthews, Brian Sanford and Craig Turman
