Glenn was a lifelong resident of Benzie County, born Oct. 8, 1919 in Beulah, the son of Gilbert and Florence (Lipp) Stone. Glenn attended Michigan State University for two years, studying agriculture, which he applied to his farming knowledge. He was a partner with his father and two brothers in fruit and Christmas tree businesses for many years. Upon the death of his father, Glenn and his two brothers, and later his nephew Lee, formed a partnership in the fruit and Christmas tree businesses. After the partnership dissolved, Glenn raised and sold Christmas trees for more than 20 years.
Glenn was an avid fan of both Frankfort and Benzie Central sports, attending many football and basketball games. He enjoyed playing tennis when time allowed. He was a member of the Blaine Christian Church.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Audrey of Frankfort; daughter, Susan Stone of Minnesota; two step-daughters, Judy DeYoung of Frankfort and Heddi-Sue Holtrey of Interlochen; three step-grandchildren, Stefan, Nathan and Jason Holtrey; two brothers, Gene (Florence) of Beulah and Gil (Jerry) of Belmont; nephew, Lee (Chris) of Beulah; and two nieces, Jan (Cameron) Tonn of Beulah and Midge (Dave) VandeKopple of Grand Rapids.
Cremation has taken place, with interment in Benzonia Township Cemetery. No services are scheduled. The family was assisted by the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
