Albert Schindler was the son of Christian Schindler and Pauline Ensley Schindler. Siblings Adam and Rebecca both died in 1873 as very young children. His sister, Clara, was born in 1873 and lived until 1958. Clara married Alden Kean.

Albert married Maude Morman sometime before 1904. They had two children: Carl (b. 1904) and Velma Berniece (b. 1906). Berniece lived to adulthood and married.

Albert registered for the WWI draft in 1918. He grew up in Indiana but spent most of his adult life in Benzie County, Michigan working as a common laborer (occupation listed on draft registration).

After his father died the same year Albert was born, Pauline later married William Oswalt in 1880. She and William had five children (who were Albert's half-siblings).
