Awarded: Croix de Guerre with palm (France) Order No. 13.092 "D", January 25, 1919, French Armies of the East:  

Was in charge of two trench mortars during the operations in the Bossois Wood, near Brabant-sur-Meuse in the morning of October 23, 1918. Though wounded by shrapnel and knocked down by the explosion of the shells, he returned to serve the mortar and continued to fire until he was disabled.
