SANDMAIER - Nicholas J., 71, 1520 Bedford Street, dead on arrival at 2 p.m. Dec. 15, 1963, at Memorial Hospital. Born in Johnstown Mar. 7, 1892, son of Nicholas and Barbara (KESSLER) SANDMAIER. Survived by widow, former Minnie L. JESCHONEK; son, Louis E., married to former Iona RESSLER, 1239 William Penn Avenue, Conemaugh, and daughter, Mrs. Mildred BARNES, Waukegan, Ill.; also 5 grandchildren. Brother of Barbara, wife of Charles WATKINS, Washington, D. C.; Mary, widow of Frank FISHER, 18 Akers Street, and Sophia, wife of Ralph YARNICK, 1155 Frankstown Road. Preceded in death by parents, 4 sisters and 3 children. Couple celebrated 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 18, 1963. Member of Oakland Volunteer Fire Company and Johnstown Old-timers Baseball Association. Pensioner of police department of Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Co., having retired in 1960. Salesman for Leo J. Buettner Insurance Agency. Former well-known amateur baseball pitcher, playing baseball until past 40. Friends received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at John R. Blimmel Funeral Home, Walnut Street. Requiem Mass at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Rev. Simon Toth, OSB. Interment, church cemetery.
