As part of the Olney cluster, John Cooper and his family were neighbors at least to the Kirklands, Farringtons, Newhalls and Fullers. Wife Wibroe was mother of immigrant Henry Pierson and may have been a close relative of the George Griggs family, who also immigrated on the Hopewell.
On 1 April 1635, "Jon Cooper," aged 41 years "of Oney in Buckinghamsher," was enrolled at London for passage to New England on the Hopewell. On the same ship were "Wibroe 42 years wife of Jon Cooper" and "Mary Cooper 13, Jon Cooper 10, Tho[mas] Cooper 7, Martha Cooper 5 children of Jon Cooper aforesaid."
