Warren Anderson Laid To Rest
Funeral services for Warren P. Anderson were held on Wednesday, November 3, 1976 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Rev. John F. Hagberg officiating. Warren Anderson had passed away unexpectedly at his home in Strandquist October 30 at the age of 55.
Interment was in the Hegland Church Cemetery near Strandquist with military honors accorded by the Strandquist American Legion Post. Casketbearers were C. Carlson, J. Jensen, D. Renstrom, H. Gustafson, J. Kleinwachter and E. Hougard. Mr. and Mrs. E. Johnson sang, "Rock of Ages" and a trio of ladies, Mrs. W. Jacobson, Mrs. P. Boen and Mrs. D. Thun, sang "Whispering Hope." Mrs. T. Johnson served as organist and accompanist at the service. Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of arrangements.
Warren Phillip Anderson, the son of Esther and the late Martin Anderson, was born on December 29, 1920 in Nelson Park township of Marshall County near Strandquist. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Strandquist community and was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith there.
In September of 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters in the submarine service. Following his discharge in December of 1945, he returned to the Strandquist community. From 1950 to 1960, he made his home at Longview, Washington where he was employed in the construction field. He also spent two years at Anchorage, Alaska employed in construction work, prior to returning to Strandquist where he has since made his home. He was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist and served as church custodian for several years. As a veteran of submarine service, he was a member of the "Silent Service" organization. Warren was presently serving on the Strandquist City Council.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Esther Anderson, Strandquist; four brothers; eight nieces and nephews; and several cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father in December of 1966.
