PIONEER PUBLISHER ANSWERS SUMMONS

OAKLEY, Oct. 6 - William Arthur Davidson, 69, native Idahoan and pioneer publisher, died at his home here Sunday morning following a short illness.

Born in Boise August 27, 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Davidson, he went to Albion from Blackfoot in 1887. A short time later he came to Oakley where he published the first newspaper ever printed in the Oakley valley. He was married to Miss Mary Etta Durfee, February 18, 1891.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Davidson, and six sons, George Davidson of Caldwell, William Davidson of Oakley, Raymond L. Davidson and Perry Davidson of Portland, Freeman R. Davidson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Edward E. Davidson of Burley.

A daughter, Mrs. Lillian M. Craner, was killed in an automobile accident near Idaho Falls a year ago and another daughter, Miss Laurina N. Davidson, also preceded him in death.

The body rests at the Johnson mortuary in Burley pending funeral arrangements.

Pioneer Editor Of Oakley Dies At Family Home

BURLEY (Special) - Funeral services for William Arthur Davidson, 69, Idaho editor, will be held at Oakley Sunday afternoon. Mr. Davidson died at his home at Oakley October 4, following a short illness. He was born in Boise, August 27, 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Davidson. From Boise he went to Blackfoot then to Albion and later to Oakley where he established the first newspaper. He married Miss Mary Etta Durfee, February 18, 1891.

Surviving are his wife and six sons, George Davidson of Caldwell, Ida.; William Davidson, Oakley; Raymond L. Davidson and Perry Davidson of Portland; Freeman R. Davidson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Edward E. Davidson of Burley. A daughter, Mrs. Lillian Craner, was killed in an automobile accident near Idaho Falls a year ago .
