Funeral services for Julian F. Bird, 45, who died at Kecoughtan Veterans Administration Hospital, Hampton, were held at St. Bede's Church, Williamsburg, with the Rev. Fr. Chester Michale officiating. Interment was in the Hampton National Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Brown Bird.

Mr. Bird was a retired Navy chief and a member of the Fleet Reserve. Following his naval service that extended from November 23, 1934 to November 22, 1949, he was fire inspector at Camp Peary, serving in that capacity until the time of his illness. A member of St. Bede's Church, he was a scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 106 for several years.
