Plemon and Freeman were twins; Plemon died on 9 Aug 1942 in World War II in the naval battle "The Battle of Savo Island - Aug 9, 1942 off Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands" on the USS Quincy when it took on many direct hits from the Japanese navy and sank. The US Navy declared him missing on 9 Aug 1942 and declared him dead on 10 Aug 1943, one year and one day after he was declared missing. His name is listed on the "Tablets of Missing" at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial (ABMC) that is also known as Fort William McKinley Cemetery, in Manila, Phillipines.
