Born in Caldwell County, N.C., November 20, 1885, Charles Abel Bowman, was the son of Finley G. Bowman and Frances Arminda (or Minerva?)Starnes Bowman.

Charles Abel Bowman may have been married twice.

His paternal grandfather, Abel Jackson Bowman, served in the Civil War. Charles received his name in part, from his grandfather.

On May 27, 1950, Hickory, Catawba County, N.C., Charles Abel Bowman, still married, died at the age of 64.
