Montenegro; Sara A., 88, a resident of Hurley, entered eternal rest on May 1, 2009 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. She was born on October 10, 1920 in Hanover, NM to Charlie and Rita (Wakefield) Allison.
She is survived by 4 sons, Louie Montenegro and is wife Helen of Silver City, and John, Mark and George Montenegro all of Hurley; 5 daughters, Flora Montenegro of Hurley, Gloria Childs of Bayard, Lillian Hiler and her husband Richard of Salt Lake City, UT, Toni Mathis of Hurley and Sarah Quintana and her husband Arthur of Bayard; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews .
She is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Rita (Wakefield) Allison; her beloved husband, Juan Montenegro (96); one son, Charlie Montenegro; one daughter, Juanita Montenegro; and a grandson, Avel Rios III in 2007.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Prayer Vigil beginning at 6:00pm and Deacon Bill Holguin reciting the Holy Rosary and Vigil Service. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 6th at 10:00am at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley with Father Robert Becerra officiating. The burial will follow the mass at the Hurley Cemetery.
Pallbearers are George Montenegro II, Jason Mathis, Santiago Miranda Jr., Louie Montenegro Jr., Perry Childs, Justin Quintana, Gary Montenegro and Alex Galvadon.
