TWILA P. TAYLOR

Twila P. Taylor, 84, formerly of Soldier passed away Monday November 1, 2010 in Holton. She was born July 30, 1926 in Oneida, Kansas the daughter of Elwin and Thelma (Young) Clifton. She graduated from Wetmore High School in 1944. On January 12, 1948 she married James E. Taylor in Holton. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2007. Twila worked at the Jackson County District Court Office as Clerk of Probate for 17 years and was also a homemaker. She had lived in Holton from 1954-1973 and the Bucks Grove area from 1973-2006. She was past member of Holton Business Women and was a past member of Bucks Grove United Methodist Church. She is survived by: her sons, Dan Taylor (Donnie) of Hoyt, KS and Steve Taylor (Shelly) of Rossville, KS; her sisters, Shirley Butler of Seaford, DE, Peggy Shrewsbury of Tecumseh, KS and Suzie Smith of Mayetta, KS; her brother, Virgil Clifton of Topeka, KS; her sons-in-law, Bryant Peterson and Bill Hoppes both of Soldier, KS; her 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Twila was also preceded in death by her daughters, Connie Peterson and Cheryl Hoppes; her sister, Bonnie George; her brothers Elwin Jr. and Charles Clifton and her great granddaughter Annie Rokala.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial following in Bucks Grove Cemetery. Pastor Kent Rogers will be officiating. The family will greet friends at a visitation from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
Memorials may be given to Twila Taylor Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
