Clayton Alexander Boggan Sr, son of Henry Marshall Boggan and Mittie Ellen (Bivins) Boggan, was a direct descendant of Capt. Patrick Boggan and spent his life preserving one of the original Boggan farms. He was married to Harold Eugenia (Russell) Boggan of New London, North Carolina. Together they reared their daughter, Mittie Isabelle (Boggan) Moen , and son, Clayton Alexander Boggan, Jr.

Clayton attended Weaver College and served in the US Army, as a private. He was one of the Doughboys in France, during World War I. Upon his return, he worked for the US Post Office as a mail carrier for over 45 years covering numerous areas within the rural countryside of Anson County, North Carolina. He was an avid fisherman and hunter while conserving nature and respecting all forms of life. As these traits were important to his very core, he taught mutual respect, along with patience and understanding, to his children and grandchildren as significant contributions for future generations.
