A Grand Island man, Eugene A. Horney, 507 East 13th, died at his home Monday afternoon following a heart attack. He was 62. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Geddes Funeral Home. Burial will be at Beaver Crossing.
Mr. Horney was born Jan. 1, 1892, at St. Edward to James P. and Minnie Horney. He attended school at Beaver Crossing. On Jan. 13, 1929, he was married to Winifred Pickrel at Waco. They made their home in Beatrice before coming to Grand Island 15 years ago. During World War I, Mr. Horney enlisted in the army at Onawa, Ia., on July 25, 1918. He served overseas for one year and was discharged on Oct. 3, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Ia.
He is survived by his wife and one brother, Roy G. Horney, of Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his parents.
